More than just
gymnastics, training at TGI is a bundle of good things wrapped up in
fun!
Gymnastics
develops strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. More than
that, it encourages concentration, motivation and promotes self
confidence.
At Toronto Gymnastics
International, we are proud of our strong recreational program. Class
sizes are small, with a minimum of 5 gymnasts to a maximum of 8 gymnasts
per coach, to ensure each athlete gets the attention they need to
develop their individual gymnastics ability with confidence.
We have a
fall, winter and spring session, each lasting 12 weeks. As part of our
spring session, our recreational, advanced recreational, and teen/adult
athletes participate in the annual TGI
Gymfest, a
celebration of our gymnasts which takes place over two high energy
evenings in mid-June.
Our recreational classes
are designed to meet the developmental needs of gymnasts from 2 to 62.
Parent &
Tot
Our Parent
and Tot class introduces the younger child to gymnastics in the company
of their parent or caregiver. Direction is provided by a certified
coach. Children enjoy activity that promotes body awareness,
coordination, self-confidence and achievement. Specific equipment
circuits are set up to encourage youngsters to walk, run, jump, roll and
balance in a safe environment. Everyone gets a good workout!
Kindergym
Youngsters
who can listen and follow simple instructions are introduced to the
gymnastics environment under the supervision of a certified coach. This
program consists of basic movement patterns to develop coordination,
balance, strength, independence, and self confidence. Youngsters will
learn basic gymnastic skills on all gymnastic apparatus. We use a Level
system to emphasize the proper learning progressions. Smiles are
encouraged!
Advanced
Kindergym
This
developmental program is for boys and girls who demonstrate advanced
skill. Youngsters should be familiar and be able to perform gymnastic
skills in Kindergym levels 1 and 2 and are usually recommended for
placement in this program by their coach. The smiles and laughter
continue!
Recreational
In our
Recreational classes, children learn basic to intermediate gymnastic
skills and movements on all gymnastic apparatus. Girls and boys are
coached in separate groups but all athletes learn new skills on the
trampoline, the tumble trak and mini trampoline. We use a Level system
to ensure proper learning progressions. Friendships are made and each
athlete is encouraged to explore the joy of movement and the fun of
gymnastics.
Advanced
Recreational
Our
Advanced Recreational program is for gymnasts who demonstrate an
advanced level of skill and enthusiasm for gymnastics. Boys and girls
are coached in separate groups. They practice on all gymnastic
apparatus to learn new skills, and spend time conditioning to improve
their strength and flexibility. A coach must recommend an athlete for
our advanced program, and each athlete is tested before placement in a
class. A gymnastics enthusiast is born!
Teen and
Adult
Our Teen
and Adult Program is designed to allow teens and adults to participate
in a gymnastics program and train on all gymnastic apparatus. A
conditioning program is developed to meet the specific needs of
participants. A workout of the body, mind and spirit is guaranteed!
Coach
In-Training
Our popular CIT class is designed for teens who want to
participate in gymnastics training and learn the fundamentals of
coaching, while earning community service hours required for graduation
from high school. Our 8 week program prepares participants to become an
assistant coach at TGI, and enables them to register for the National
Coaching Certification Program as a Pre-CIT once they turn 15 years old.
